About Ode à la Rose Florist Shop
When our founders, Louis and Olivier, left France for New York, they quickly realized American flower shops operated differently. Bouquets were packed tight with filler, wrapped in cellophane, and designed more for volume than vision. In Paris, floristry meant something else: thoughtful composition, clean lines, flowers given room to breathe. In 2012, they started Ode à la Rose to bridge that gap.
Ode à la Rose introduced the distinctive French art of floristics, excellent service and delivery, and aesthetics that set it apart from other florist shops. Fast forward to 2021, and we opened our Washington-area atelier at 2645 Garfield Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910. The goal was to serve D.C. neighborhoods by bringing fresh flowers to them. Shorter distances mean fresher flowers and faster turnarounds, which resulted in amazing bouquets available in D.C.
Built Fresh, Never Waiting on a Shelf
Nothing leaves our studio unless it was made specifically for your order. When you check out, our florists pull fresh stems and start building. They use a round-tied technique, stems placed at angles by hand to create structure and flow, so the finished piece looks deliberate, not thrown together. It takes longer than grabbing something premade, but the difference is visible.
Blooms Worth the Investment
Our flowers come from farms in Ecuador, Colombia, the Netherlands, and Italy. These aren't random suppliers, we work only with trusted growers committed to quality and sustainable practices. Shipments arrive multiple times weekly, so our team always has access to strong, vibrant blooms. Each stem gets inspected before use. If it doesn't meet standards, it doesn't go in the bouquet.
